Whilst Supreme Court and some Court If Appeal hearings are televised the bulk of cases are heard in lower courts.

Court reporters are a dying breed. Transcripts expensive.
Legal aid cuts mean that access to legal advice is much curtailed

Meanwhile judges are called “enemies of the people” and decent lawyers “fat cats” in part because the legal system is not sufficiently transparent so too many people do not understand well enough what is happening
