This tweet, and the replies to it, illustrate so much that's wrong with how campaigners around trans rights talk to one another.

How can decent people talk past tragic outcomes for trans kids? And why ignore occasional, real encroachments on, now threatened, rights for women?
When disempowered groups attack one another there's always a winner - and it's never either of those disempowered groups. A debate this toxic poisons all attempts to move it forward. It makes losers of all those affected and all those who care about them.
(Inevitable notes: (1) I'm not suggesting there is an equivalence between suicide and sporting outcomes; there isn't. But there are some real abuses and encroachments on women's rights. (2) I'm not implying support for the 40% stat, I know it's high but I don't know how high...
(3) forgive me but I don't expect to reply to replies to these tweets. I will mute or block aggressive or abusive replies.)
Lots of comments about what the data shows about the mental health of trans men and women. Here's data from objectively speaking decent sources in the UK (gov.uk/government/pub…) and US (pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/142/4/…).
