2. The part of @kittypurrzog piece that I agree with (and will try to do better on!) is that the term pedophile gets used too loosely & there is a real benefit in keeping to the clinical definition.
3. But if we're going to forgo the term pedophile for everything expect those attracted to pre-pubescents, we still need a term for people who sexually abuse minors. Herzog's suggestion ("regular old abuser") doesn't quite do the trick.
