Is there anything substantive at all in this Jane Mayer piece on Franken? Because I'm like...750 words in and all I see so far is rehash and conjecture. So far this piece is a crisis comms PR person's dream.
I don't get it. Everyone already knew the Tweeden part was a hit job and the rest of this is like... Al Franken is sorry for being too... "tactile?" Why are men's second chances always more important than women's first? This quote from Rebecca Traister at the end is perfect.
Nope. I'm not going to put the career of a man I don't even know ahead of Tina Dupuy's right not to get groped. I also reject the notion that Al Franken's second chance at the senate is more important that Tina Smith's first. Hands, washed.

It looks as if perhaps Amazon has abruptly stopped selling Donald Trump's official line of suits. As recently as July 15th, there were still 9 styles available. Not now.
There are still 143 other official Donald Trump brand goods for sale on Amazon, but I checked and of the 143 products, 142 are not being sold directly by Amazon. They're being sold by third parties.
The one, lone official Trump-brand product I could find still listed as being stocked and shipped by Amazon is Trump brand deodorant. In the official product description it's described as, "The classy masculine juice." amazon.com/Donald-Trump-S…

This story is from April 2019, by the way. I just think it might help some Franken diehards out there understand just how much things are changing.
The law says you have to show a pattern of harassment. DataCamp were employees were all like, seems like it'd take a long time. We want this guy gone NOW. 100+ instructors rallied behind the victim. You're going to see more of this.

Jane Mayer's defense of Al Franken is distressing and gives grist to the already awful conspiracy theories falsely painting Franken as a victim. It's more troubling in light of Myer's previous good work exposing sexual abuse and harassment. salon.com/2019/07/22/wha…
Mayer focuses most of her attention on Leeann Tweeden, who may very well be falsely accusing Franken. But she minimizes the 7 other accusations, made by women who don’t seem to have any reason to lie.
Mayer floats the possibility that Franken was just being friendly and affectionate, and the women (implied to be hysterical) are merely misunderstanding him.

But sorry, there simply is no part of America where men grab women’s asses or breasts as a friendly hello.

Yes, I know the picture is discussed in the story, but that picture put the claims against Franken in an entirely different category from, for example, the claims against Kavanaugh, which Mayer aggressively advanced with an extraordinarily dubious story of her own.
I mean, seriously? Look at the text below -- "six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney." They couldn't even confirm through other witnesses that Kavanaugh was AT THE PARTY. I couldn't believe the allegation was printed at the time.

1/ @_ImperatorRex_ and @wakeywakey16 have done threads recently about the State Dept and it's involvement with Russiagate. Here are a few more tidbits, specifically revolving around Jon Finer
2/ Jon Finer was John Kerry's Chief of Staff at the State Department when all of this went down in 2016. Kerry promoted him into that role in March 2015.
3/ He is a young guy. Same age as Ben Rhodes? I think of these two guys in the same mold. Except where Rhodes is Obama's sidekick, Finer is Kerry's sidekick.
