When trying to educate liberals an old sales pitch came to mind that people would do well to remember. "See Mr. Jones through Mr. Jones eyes and sell Mr. Jones what Mr. Jones buys." If you want to reach people you first have to acknowledge their concerns even when it seems silly
2) We have way too many "underground" conservatives afraid to even talk to their friends about their viewpoints. To talk to people on the left you have to approach your conversation from their point of view and insert your reasoning into it to support their point of view
3) Example a very strong left person who hates Trump and hated the idea of border security. But when I talked about the suffering of the people in Central America left behind to deal with the Mexican drug cartels and how they hurt people there and here, she now supports the wall.
4) We had one point of agreement, Mexican cartels are bad. From that point of view we moved the conversation forward and discussed our points of view without Trump and her hate of Trump being part of the discussion.
5) A major stopping point in every discussion about border security is when I say illegal alien criminal they think poor, destitute asylum seeker. We MUST separate these two groups and be clear who we are talking about. The media has done a great job of mixing the two together.
If we start every conversation by defining that asylum seekers are NOT what we consider to be criminals and are not whom we are discussing when we say "illegal alien" you will get a lot further in helping them realize why we need to stop drug cartels and human traffickers.
We all want the same things, we simply disagree about how to get there but YOU can help disarm the media influence on people on the left by being very clear that you only want to keep good people on both sides of the border safe and stop these evil cartels from hurting them.
