Trump got more upset with his Chief of Staff for coughing in the background during his “good soundbite” of his ABC interview than he was after:
—The 9/11 attacks
—3,000 American citizens died in Puerto Rico
—6 children died in his migrant detention centers
Oh, and just for the record, @realDonaldTrump, your soundbite was awful. You keep repeating “my financial statement” as if we have any clue what statement you’re talking about. The truth is you don’t even know. All you know is to lie and say how “fantastic” & “phenomenal” it is.
Obviously he was referring to his tax returns, but he’s so far gone mentally he came up with “my financial statement.” Every time an election is coming up he starts promising to release his “fantastic” tax returns again because he has no memory and lying is like breathing for him

#62.) Trump has been talking about forming a deportation force for mass deportations for years now. Yesterday he said ICE would begin deporting millions of immigrants soon. This is unconstitutional and will destroy America.

#63.) The Trump administration instructed Hope Hicks not to answer any questions about her time in the WH and she complied, refusing to reveal so much as where she sat in the West Wing. This is obstruction of justice.

I get it. The last thing any of us want is to help Trump get “re-elected.” But there is no reason to think this will be the case. Clinton isn’t comparable to Trump. And if we compare Nixon, hearings helped move public opinion.

A President Pence is never happening. Separate the processes of impeachment & removal in your mind because they are completely independent. For removal we need the GOP, which isn’t happening. Impeachment is in Dems hands
“I trust Pelosi. She knows what she’s doing.”

I have so much respect for Nancy Pelosi as a legislator. But she’s not treating this situation with the severity it deserves. A mentally unfit cognitively deteriorating President who is compromised by our enemies must be impeached.

If you care about the #Emoluments suits, then you must read this thread by Georgetown Law's @_John_Mikhail (and our co-author of our historians' amicus brief). He explains what happened in the 4th Cir. and what should happen.
Also: See his use of "Cafeteria Originalism." So true.
For what it's worth, I think his DEC interpretation is plausible (implicit "services") but I think another explanation is that the wording of the DEC is already much less strict than the FEC. His analysis of the FEC is crucial and helpful as a contrast:
3/ I think it's sufficient to note that the Framers wrote the Foreign Emoluments Clause to be remarkably broad and strict with clear text: a ban on accepting “any…emolument…of any kind whatever."
The Domestic clause could have been written as broadly/strictly, but it wasn't.

I've heard the arguments against impeachment and they're all misguided.

"We don't know what Mueller's report will be."

"Impeachment might cost us 2020."

"We don't have the votes to convict in the Senate."

(THREAD) In America, if you know an employee who you have the power to fire or punish is a witness in a pending criminal investigation—and you angrily berate them for giving truthful testimony in a mid-probe interview with the intent to change their future testimony—it's a CRIME.
1/ Earlier today, the White House used the New York Times to spread disinformation about Hope Hicks' resignation. The cover story was that it had "nothing to do" with her questioning by Congress and that her decision to leave had been made "months" earlier. Then CNN said "weeks."
2/ Now CNN is reporting that Hicks made the decision to resign after she was berated by President Trump for her *truthful* testimony—under penalty of prosecution—before Congress. She testified—*truthfully*—that on occasion she had told "white lies" to protect Trump's interests.

2/ The court indirectly addressed the argument advanced by @SethBTillman and me. Rather than accepting Plaintiffs' position that Foreign Emoluments Clause applies to *all* federal officials, Judge Daniels said it applies to "certain" officials.
3/ Though I am perplexed by Footnote 2. Judge Daniels wrote "Defendant has conceded that he is subject to the Foreign Emoluments Clause." The government said the *exact* opposite "the government has not conceded that the President is subject to the FEC." DOJ should correct this.
