The Fermi Paradox is predicated on the idea that intelligent life is a right, a commonplace, so why don't we see more of it? Yet all our observations show dead space around us. We'll need all the luck we can get to beat the odds not shave it down to appease Green politicians.
We need to get off world to have any chance. If we stay here with our windmills and managed populations some space rock will eventually come by and blow it away.

Everybody worried about the shipping container nuke that could be trucked to Washington to destroy it and forgot it could be even more deadly if filled with cash.
I've heard it argued that Washington would be safer if there was less classification rather than more because for the most part it prevented people from knowing what was going on. You could actually gain by having less but more selective secrecy.

There may be a realization the Playboy philosophy, identity politics, cultural relativism , replacement of the family etc hasn't gone well. There were unintended side effects and it's time to get out of the way of the boomerang.
It's a very 21st century realization. "We corrupted our operating system,". would not have been widely understood in 1960. Everybody knows it's a bad thing now.
Of course they're going to have to put it in some other way. But the last decade has been all about reinventing God, sin, indulgences, excommunication, penance and atonement in new and often bizarre forms.

1. More than background, it's employment. It shows when designers have only had #design jobs, compared to those who have wider work experience: telemarketing, teaching calculus, bagging groceries... any other context. And it's never too late to get wider life/work experience.
2. The reason is design, as a worldview, is rarely at the center of how work is done. Designers who studied design and worked in design, usually enter the workforce baffled by how little anyone cares about design, even though that's the majority of work environments there are.
3. Designers with other experience, or who enter design thru an indirect path, aren't as surprised/upset about this. They knew it before they got deep, and they're often (not always) more pragmatic about being effective -willing to do "non-design" tasks that facilitate design.

I gave Abe a fistful of peanut shells tonight, just for nothin in particular.
The weather has been for shit for a couple weeks, first just above freezing, snow, mud, drizzle, gray, for a week plus,
2. then a long day of cold rain, enough to turn our hilltop farmstead into a string of shallow ponds and soggy paths.
Then a thirty degree drop, from 36° to 6° F, in about twelve hours.
3. Donkeys particularly don't like standing in mud or water, so Abe's been pretty much stuck in his stall for a week and more, which is boring. He's got a couple old, torn up, recycled rubber feed pans he moves around and fiddles with, but his heart's not in it.

Magicians have been doing this whole "design thinking" thing for 10,000+ yrs.
Let me pull the curtain back and show you exactly how we go about making the impossible happen. It's a very logical process that gets phenomenal results, but it's been shrouded in secrecy for thousands of years.

First Question: What effect do I want to have on my audience?
This is powerful focus.

Out of everything that is possible, what SPECIFICALLY do I want the audience to experience? Do I want them to believe I can fly? Do I want them to think I can make tigers appear out of nowhere? Or, do I want them to think I can read minds (my specialty)?

Competence is knowing what to do in a situation and how to do it. It is not the same as excellence.
Excellence is dependent on other people, like judges, examiners, teachers, assessors, inspectors, auditors. But we can't control these people and whether they think we're excellent or not.

#b 'Teknik menjawab' is not a series of rituals that you carry out to secure an A in the exam. You don't get guaranteed an A just through superficial actions like highlighting keywords or drawing meniscus or inserting isi tersirat.
The problem is students and teachers treat teknik menjawab as some sort of pseudo magical ritualistic gestures that will bring a certain outcome. Draw a pentagram, slaughter a chicken, and your wish will be granted.
Some remote Pacific Islanders in 1940s came in contact with Allied and Japanese soldiers who were more technologically advanced and thought the soldiers were gods who had many "cargo" (canned food, electronics, modern stuff)
