Consider this, the Justice Dept. has embraced a view that the only way a sitting president can be held accountable under the law is impeachment. But, they refuse to give the parties responsible for impeachment the evidence (background materials, grand jury info) needed for that.
They also refuse to let witnesses testify to the Congress on what they saw. And the GOP-led Senate has stated they won't even consider any House impeachment finding. In other words, the position of the GOP and the DoJ, is that the president is above the law.
So in short, in addition to being pro-Russian, pro-deficit, pro-racism, pro-corruption, pro-climate crisis, anti-science, anti-woman, anti-Semitic, anti-Muslim, and anti-human rights they are the first pro-monarchy group in the US since the last British troops left 242 years ago.

Ratcliffe as DNI, like Barr at Justice, like Trump's appointees to the Supreme Court and McConnell in the Senate, will be part of the president's praetorian guard, men given positions of great power who have but a single mission, to protect and enable Trump.
Together, these men will ensure that Trump remains above the law and able to continue to attack the Constitution, corruptly profit from his office and sell out America to his Russian sponsors. Ratcliffe at DNI can do immense damage to efforts to protect our elections.
He can also help cover up the President's wrong-doing, defend his overseas enablers, suppress or distort facts to buttress the relationships of the President and the arguments he makes for policies that support authoritarianism and more often than not gravely damage US interests.

Trump is testing to its ultimate limits the idea that there is no such thing as bad press. He inflames and offends and gets non-stop coverage--buzz and attention none of his more responsible competitors can dream of. And from that flows his power.
His undoing will not be his racism or his corruption or his ignorance or his egoism or his betrayals. It is already established, there is a big base of voters who lap it all up as entertainment or lashing out at the system or saying what they have always wanted to say.
No, his undoing will be when his schtick gets tired & old as it inevitably will. When he stops shocking and offending and he is recognized for being the tiresome bore that he is, he will be undone. He has nothing of substance to recommend him. Without controversy, he's invisible.

While we have been called the United States of America since September 9, 1776, that unity has always been more a dream than a reality. Division has defined us as much as have common goals or views, each period in our history shaped by whether we are led by unifiers or dividers.
The first century of our existence was shape by a divide between the agricultural, slave-holding south and the industrial north. That division produced in the 1860s, the bloodiest war ever known to mankind until that point. While the "Union" forces won, the divisions remained.
Those divisions continue to this day to be manifested as those between rural or less populated America & urban America, between those who believe more in states rights & those who support a stronger federal government, between those who embrace diversity & those frightened by it.

The Mueller report is a clear roadmap for impeachment, because that’s the only path Mueller had. But impeachment shouldn’t be the only way that a president can be held accountable for committing a crime.
No president should be above the law. So why does this Justice Department act like he is? Because in the 1970s Richard Nixon’s Justice Department wrote a memo saying so (yes, really) and DOJ has continued to stand by that view.

The argument that a criminal president should not be indicted rests on the premise that it would destabilize the government and interfere with the president fulfilling his constitutional duties. Trump has destabilized the government already and he's attacked the Constitution.
For a criminal sitting president who has held himself above the law, indicting @realDonaldTrump would help restore the rule of law and, through his removal, would help restore political stability.
Arguing that indicting Trump would impede him fulfilling his duties overlooks how often he neglects his duties to advance his own self-interests.

The Constitution outlines a procedure for when a president is suspected of criminal behavior:
2/ The House investigates, and if there’s basis, impeaches the president. (Impeach is like indict) Impeachment requires a majority of the house.

Impeachment is followed by a Senate trial. If the Senators believe the president is guilty, they remove him from office with 2/3 vote.
