@Mortiel I'd question the thoughts behind "Attacking the idea means buying the game where you want not where they tell you."
(I hate twitters word limit. Gimmie 30 seconds)
@Mortiel How would still playing for an exclusive title when it finally releases on other platforms, for (Most likely) full release price upto a year later, do anything to combat the idea of it being a perfectly fine and not damaging to pr in the slightest?
@Mortiel Surely the more effective way to push back against the exclusivity method is to outright now buy a game, further more, not pirate it, not play it for free, not play it if paid and not give it's existance any thought beyond stating that you will never download and play it?
@Mortiel Since more often than not (Should I understand things vaguely correctly) the deal for exclusivity is done between distributor and publisher rather than distributor and developer (Self publishing devs/publishing deals that specifcaly leave this decision with the dev excluded)
@Mortiel The best way to push against it is to let the developers know that you will not interact with the product of their extreem hard work and dedication beyond telling the devs this and suggesting that others follow suit.
@Mortiel In my mind that, in theroy atleast, would lead to devs not renewing contracts with publishers that have the negative pr of signing exclusivity deals. Resulting in, bad publishers can't lock away a devs work for a quick cash grab if no devs are singing contracts with them at all.
@Mortiel I swear this was meant to be two posts.
@Mortiel And as a side note. I can understand why a self publishing dev would want to take the money. A giant bag of cash is a giant bag of cash and more often than not you'd be concidered a bit nutty to not take a giant freaking bag of cash.
I don't agree with doing it. But I understand
@Mortiel And should a dev take the aformentioned minimum sales guarantee. Just be honnest about it. An example this response from the devs of industries of titan.

I don't agree with the decision. But I understand. And given the reasoning. I am not that upset.
@Mortiel Industries of titan is a game I very much looked forward to. To an extent I still do, as it's currently (and likely to remain) the only game to take an EGS deal that I will give any consideration of buying down the line. Given the circumstanses of it.
@Mortiel It's likely going to have to shine like hell, but that's still more than I can say for the likes of satisfactory which I was more hyped for than IOT. Or Genesis Alpha one which I was even more exicted for than Satisfactory.

This really was just meant to be two posts.
