being radicalized by an organized, coherent and violent ideology isn’t “mental illness,” and while white supremacist killers might be looking for a “high score” that’s less to do with video games and more dehumanizing their victims. these explanations are tired and inadequate.
there’s enough white supremacist propaganda free on the internet to reach every lonely guy who wants to feel part of a bigger cause. of “defending his race” from “invaders.” that’s not mental illness, it’s strategically spread propaganda. and not a game. lives are at stake.
the #elpasoshooting is the third mass murder linked to far-right message board 8chan in just the last six months. we know the vectors, we know the ideology, and its wages are violence and death.
