A handheld bluetooth keyboard/trackpad combo is easier to hold up than a phone, and if you can touch-type, you can also just get a full-sized keyboard and just like put it on your stomach, wherever is most ergonomically convenient.

I like my laptop, too, but I'm not going to try mounting it above my head in my bed.
I'm also not on my phone right now, but my pocket PC. I'm just describing how to get a similar experience with a phone you might already have and a <$20 phone stand instead of having to buy a pocket PC and a wearable heads-up display.
And yes, I've done the phone stand version. It's easier and safer than holding a phone up over my face to write in bed when I'm low on spoons.
