A group of fame seeking, right wing sociopaths are descending on Portland this weekend with the goal of provoking violence that, when videoed and shown on Fox, will lend credence to the GOP calls for the feds to crack down on leftists. oregonlive.com/crime/2019/08/…
Many of these right wing folks have been associated with Infowars. They make a living off selling conspiracy theories, fake supplements, and prepper kits to credulous white people.
This sort of grift is as old and 100% American as PT Barnum and Tom Sawyer. But the political and social stakes of this particular circus act/grift are much higher.
So when Fox inevitably shows footage of these “conservatives” being harassed (and hopefully not assaulted) in Portland, rememberer that the script for this event has already been written. They’re just coming to Portland to gather useful footage to splice in.
And if you're inclined to rush to the defense of these poor people who flew to Portland just because they wanted to exercise their right to "free speech," you should know that these are the sorts of folks you're defending.
The organizer has clearly signaled his desire for a quiet, peaceful day of free speechifying on what should be a beautiful summer day in Portland.

This is the same group that brought vegan milkshakes to the last right wing rally in Portland. You remember, the ones that supposedly were made of cement but which weren't, but that little detail didn't stop the national media from running with that story.
Who knows what the narrative to come out of August 17th will be. Will there be some other magical, deadly, (and invented) substance that counter-protestors supposedly weaponized, fantastical cement milkshakes 2.0?
I hope and pray that there will be no physical violence. Remember that if there is no violence, then the MAGA organizers of the event will consider it a failure. That should be all you need to know about these folks.
