Let me tell you about my first SEO experience.

I took SEO very serious in 2011 because of the amazing experience I had.

Our company was beginning to take off the way I planned it.

Even though cashflow was good but it wasn’t as great as I wanted it but i was Ok with the growth

So, I started leveraging other means of getting traffic to reduce the marketing cost but it was a stupid decision because time is more expensive than money.

Anyway, we made a post on our blog and went about other activities.

After 3 or 4 weeks we got...

a call from a very renowned consulting firm, If I mention their name, you probably will know them.

They needed help badly.

We had multiple meetings with the CEO and head of marketing and eventually sealed the deal.

The goodnews is that we are still working with this company till date.

The first time we met in 2011, I asked them how they met us, the head of marketing said he was googling something up and he found us.

It dawned on me, SEO was finally working for us...

The good thing is that, since they were the ones that reached out to us.

When we had the meetings, our hands ware up, we had our way many times.

Meaning, we were at advantage, they came to us, not us to them, we didn't bid.

Again, that's the power of SEO.

It positions you as the giver, not the receiver.

I get alot of request from companies wanting us to do SEO for them because we've gotten extremely good at it.

something I did 2 years ago.

In my other company, we sell sex toys, supplements and wellness products.

So, I wanted us to play bigger, I took a look at the major competitors to see where their secrets.

I used similarweb to see where they were getting their traffic from, and the keywords that were generating those traffic.

I found out that one of the sites they were getting their traffic from was a pornsite.

Yes, porn site.

How come I didnt know that i...

could get traffic from pornsite? NOT just traffic but quality traffic.

It is one thing to get traffic, it is another thing to get quality traffic.

At one point, my SEO mentor, Neil Patel was getting alot of traffic but he wasn't making anything close to his biggest...

competitor who was getting far less traffic.

So, if you want to get quality SEO traffic,you need to first determine the keywords you want to rank for.

let me explain...

Have you ever done any google search?

If you say yes, those words you entered are what we call 'keywords'.

There's what we call 'buyers intent' keywords and 'information only keywords'.

If someone enters 'cheap laptops' 'or discounted laptop', there are chances that the person wants to buy a laptop but just trying to compare prices VS if i type 'best way to have sex' because...

this person is just seeking information on sex.

However, if people are already ranking for keywords that you love, you may or may not be able to outrank them, depending on who they are but as a guide, do this...

Determine who is already doing well in your market and you ...

Use similarweb to know where they are getting their traffic from, the keywords they are using to rank top.

Use ubbersuggest to find out who is linking to them and what content is making them rank top.

Then, use Grant Cardon 10X rule to produce a...

content that is 10X better than theirs.

Then, use buzzsumo to find out people who shared or linked to your competitor's content, and ask them to share yours or link to you.

All these should take no more than 4days and you'll reap the dividend forever.

People will keep buying from you every single day.

We've not even scratched the surface yet and the post is way too long.
