Today I launch a #TreesForOurHeroes campaign to recognise those brave allies who have stood alongside us to fight back against #antisemitism. People of other faiths - and of none who have been brave enough to publicly say #enoughisenough
The money raised will plant trees for them in the Negev in Israel. These courageous friends are helping to drive antisemitism out of the mainstream. Let us show our gratitude by embedding the memory of this alliance in Israeli soil.
I have opened both gofundme & justgiving pages. I want people to DONATE AND / OR TO NOMINATE. You can nominate someone without donating, you can donate without nominating. We want to plant as many #treesforourheroes as possible. Nominations - Donations - Both sides are important
It can be a public figure, a member of the press, a friend, a colleague, a neighbour. Maybe you have just heard about them - go to the website and donate for them - send an email to write a few words. Or just do one or the other - BUT DO SOMETHING.
Please share this around. Retweet here, share on FB. Share my blog page or the two fundraising sites. We need donations- we need nominations. We need this to reach as far and wide as possible. We want these names and we want to plant trees. Break this out of our little bubble.
I have started the #TreesForOurHeroes campaign by donating £50 to each of the two websites. One nomination for @emmacpicken and one for @EuanPhilipps - both these heroes - who receive a disgraceful amount of abuse for standing alongside us - deserve thanks and recognition.
