probably an unpopular view in certain circles but imo neoplatonism is like christianitys waiting room for a certain type of person. it "straightens out" a lot of people who have syncretic worldviews or who are involved in various forms of pantheism, paganism, gnosticism, etc.
this has happened many times over the last 2000 years. neoplatonism puts together all these pieces for you and then you have this solid but empty framework where at the top theres this divine oneness that permeates the world, and later youre like... oh... thats god... lol
whenever i hear people explain neoplatonism its like you gave someone the challenge of explaining the universe without using the word god. thats why it dovetails well with christianity, in my opinion.
