That brings us to end of #uxaustralia

@docbaty is thanking all the speakers, attendees and reflecting on how wonderful it is to meet new people and catch up with those we don't get to see often. To come and share our thoughts and conversations, experience and stories.
One thing he would like to pick up on is that the conference has touched on a few themes that he's hoping were thought provoking.
For many it may have been challenging.
They speak to some of the issues we need to deal with as a practice.
What they didn't touch on was some of the things we need to deal with as a society.

We have a massive capacity for collective action.

Collectively we have an opportunity to have an enormous impact.
If anything Steve hopes you've started to think about what you're designing, who you're designing for and how you're designing.

Hopefully you'll be able to reflect on this more often.
Steve is worries about how we are accelerating issues, almost maliciously destructive of our natural world.

The fires in the Amazon are deliberate policy to clear the forest for commercial gain.
It's easy for us to say "You should do better Brazil" but Australia is 4th for land clearing in the world and #1 per capita.
We have institutions enforcing inequality and we are creating more systems being built to enforce it.

They were designed to work this way and they are working.

The good news is we can design them to a different way. For access, for inclusion, for environment justice.
It will not be easy.

The existing power structures are heavily invested in the society we have today.

Collectively we have the power to change this. Together.

They have the money.

We have the will.
We have this opportunity.

You may have heard a lot of existential dread over the last 2 days and it can be the discomfort that moves us to action.

We have the skills.

Let's get the will.

Let's take action.
