Really quite exhausted by the endless variations on 'Cummings is really playing a blinder at this game of 4D chess, in which he is trying to get a deal/trying to have an election/trying to ensure no-deal'.
The idea he is some kind of immense tactical genius is inaccurate and unhelpful. Politics is really not that complicated.
If you want to stop something, stop it. If you believe in something, fight for it. If someone's arguments are trash, then trash them.
Once upon a time this bloke made up a bunch of lies to win a yes/no referendum on the status quo, in the aftermath of a financial crash and austerity. A genius that does not make.
Setting him up as some sort of Dr Evil figure, constantly five steps ahead, is designed to make you feel powerless. Fuck all that. Just do the politics.

I can't think of a single more irresponsible answer given by a British minister in my lifetime.
Any concerns Conservatives might try to raise about Jeremy Corbyn's radicalism are now dead. For all his faults, he has never once threatened the basic operating model of British democracy.
It is, quite simply, an unforgivable thing to say. He might not intend to go through with it - I doubt he does. But if our system makes any sense, Gove should be held in disgrace for having even considered it.

So the govt has stepped back from the brink on ending free movement on October 31st. It's now clear how the sequencing ran.
First Priti Patel Mage the statement, without having taken any interest in what it entailed. Then they tried to find out what it entailed.
Now they have found out it would be a disaster and legally challengeable, so they have reversed it.

Reminder: the govt has for months refused to put forward it's own legislation because it's been scared backbenchers would put amendments on it.
For instance, why is there no Trade Remedies Authority? Because they're too scared to try to put the trade bill through.
Honestly, one of these days a minister in the Johnson govt is going to say something true and I'll faint on my arsehole.

1. For purposes of populating the public record and to avoid the danger of the single story, allow me share my observations regarding election funding in 2013. I make no claim that my version is the exclusive truth, no. Read it as one version.
2. In 2013, ZANU PF was pushing for an early election. It was desperate to avoid implementation of electoral reforms after the success of the constitutional referendum in March. The sooner elections were held under the old order the better. Problem was there was no money.
3. We (MDC) saw this as a chance to push for reforms, 1 of which was having international election observers. Recall that the international community had funded a large chunk of the constitution-making process via UNDP? They were also ready to help with election support

My opponent, it should be said, is extremely aggressive. He also has NO issue taking my white square bishop w/ his knight.
I think what happened w/ this game is he ended up driving my white square bishop back w/ a pawn, then pinning that same bishop & my knight w/ another dumb pawn (or maybe the same one who knows this is probably why I am bad at chess).
