So the govt has stepped back from the brink on ending free movement on October 31st. It's now clear how the sequencing ran.
First Priti Patel Mage the statement, without having taken any interest in what it entailed. Then they tried to find out what it entailed.
Now they have found out it would be a disaster and legally challengeable, so they have reversed it.
And what happened since then? Countless Europeans thrown into anxiety and uncertainty. I know several, either first or second hand, who went through real fear over this, frantically trying to get the settled status app to work so they could be sure of their status.
And all for what? So Patel could look tough on immigration. Making our neighbours feel scared and unwelcome for her dismal small-minded bullshit.
Fuck this government for what it's doing to us.
