Dear #Kashmir, a thread (3)
My love, are you any better today than you were last week? I shouldn't really ask. It was 30th Aug yesterday, that date marks the 'International Day of the Disappeared'. I know, who would ever mark such a day on the calendar. What a ghastly thing 1/?
to dedicate just a day to. Then again Kashmir, aren't you really the real neverland and the land of 'lost boys'? You have turned into a place where mothers whail into the dead of the night hoping their screams translate to answered prayers. One day, their lost boys find their 2/?
way home. You were supposed to protect those poor boys. Yes, those Indian dogs have fancy artillery and weapons but you have mystically properties that have vast powers. Why'd you let yourself be a graveyard of the lost and left us numb to the core and semi-functioning humans 3/?
Look, I don't mean to write to you with so much resentment. I'll change the mood from grim to slightly more chipper. Kashmir, yesterday my mother put on the DVD of her marriage. It was surreal! Watching my parents so young and beautiful (which they still are) Badimama, Papa 4/?
All the people I knew back when I was a different Khushi. Kashmir you looked so young too! Even though the vapid sense of destruction loomed in your air, there was still such a cloud of joy and a sense of serenity amongst all the younger versions of people I used to know 5/?
That was 25 years ago, I can't help but think the constant typhoon of hate that you have been through has broken you and you may never be restored to your former self. In this instance I'd really like for you to prove me wrong and maybe then I can have you write back to me 6/?
I almost spoke to Badimama on Thursday, she had waited 2 hours in line at the police station and my stupid sleeping patterns betrayed me and I fell asleep and she couldn't call me back as her 2 phone calls were up. I know you haven't been out much, Kashmir but that is usually 7/?
how prisons function (rolls eyes profusely). Anyway a nice lad reached out and luckily he lives super close to her and said he'd be able to go to her. All this technology and a million different apps, yet I had to send him a voice note which he will personally have to go to 8/?
Badima's and make her listen to the damn voice note. Kashmir you should have come with an inbuilt WLAN network, you know one that couldn't be manipulated by the zealots (India) then I'd literally never would have left. It'd make streaming The Office on Netflix so much easier 9/?
Challo as I end this thread I want to tell you, I know I seem like an ass when I keep throwing in your face a barrage of things wrong with you when in actuality, I pathetically try and cover up for why I don't come back to you as much. You deserve so much better, forgive me 10/10
