Hi, please do not consume alcohol rectally.
This is not a squeamishness/prudishness thing.

Absorbing alcohol through your lower intestine means it goes into your bloodstream faster, it bypasses several natural limiters on how fast you can drink, and you have no idea how much alcohol you're taking on until it htis you.
Yeah, it's basically not going to do a single good thing for you down there.

Just got to say that it's amazing how the party line across gator and adjacent circles is that if you're in a situation like this you either go to the police and have someone convicted of a crime, or nothing bad happened and you can't talk about it.

If you won't go to the police, nothing bad happened.

If you go to the police and they tell you it sounds like a personal problem, nothing bad happened.

If you go to the police and the prosecutor won't bring charges, nothing bad happened.
If you go to the police and there's an acquittal, nothing bad happened.

Everybody in the guy's circle including his family corroborates that he was like this, he did these things, had these problems...

Let me talk a little bit about the bookstore and my goals for it.

When I made my pitch for it, one of the things I pointed out is that my skills include working within limitations in a way that makes them strengths.
Opening a bookstore in a little annex about the size of a small hallway that also has to function as a hallway (it leads to the elevator and the restrooms) means it can't serve the function of even an airport bookstore in terms of stocking books.
You could use that space to replicate the book aisle at a chain drugstore if you wanted to, but people aren't going to a bar already looking for the latest reliably popular mysteries and romances.

Knowing the limitations of planning and planning for them are an underrated aspect of planning.
Mike Tyson famously said, "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth," when asked how he was going to deal with his opponent's strategy.

The matching military maxim: "No battle plan survives contact with the enemy."
The further out your plan extends, the more opportunities there will be for each of your assumptions to go astray. It's fine to plan for what seems like the most likely scenario... but bear in mind the odds will shift, and don't get locked into one trajectory early on.

Hi currently writing an article about the DOOM LOOP which is an actual thing in organizational behavior.

Guess what? yelling at people and telling them they're not stressed enough or worried enough DOESN'T ACTUALLY HELP YOU EXIT THE DOOM LOOP.
The thing that DOES help you get out of the DOOM LOOP is taking small actions that help you feel supported and/or help you remember something you did that activates an authentic sense of pride about your skills/abilities.

So taking time to have breakfast, or making your bed,...
or doing something nice for someone else (coffee?) Or things that create small repetitive motor skills (think adult coloring books) actually help you exit the DOOM LOOP.

Doubling down on disaster scenarios or being sarcastic DOES. NOT. ALLEVIATE. APATHY. and is harmful.

56.8M Americans have a mental or substance use disorder in the country.

As a cancer researcher & science communicator, I have very mixed feelings on proposed #alcohol cancer labelling for drinks. I'll try here to elucidate why, and you can tell me whether you agree or not (1/n)
...so firstly, is alcohol a carcinogen? Almost undoubtedly, yes. IARC grade it a class 1 carcinogen, alongside asbestos, ionizing radiation, & smoking. We even know some mechanisms of damage. So labels should be a no-brainer, right? (2/n)
...well not quite. The real question isn't just whether something causes cancer (oxygen, processed meat, and sunlight are also Class 1 carcinogens for example) but how much it increases our risk of getting cancer. We need both bits of information to make a call (3/n)
