Really interesting detail that No 10 declined to give a sworn statement to court .....govt provided some emails and documents to court late last night instead
Sources suggesting there has been a lot of consternation about how this has been handled among government lawyers, will be interesting to see what else comes out in court this afternoon

1. PM heading out of Westminster today to crank up calls for an election - he'll accuse Labour of being cowardly for refusing one, the message 'Parliament can't stop the People voting'
2. If you were in any doubt for a second that we were heading for an election based on People v Parliament, scratch that thought - No 10 reckons this is day 1, whatever the eventual date
3. But Johnson has a big problem that the date is not just in his gift, and opposition parties can keep him dangling for as long as they like - PLP and shadow Cabinet seem to, for now, have secured position from Corbyn that they won't agree in next couple of days

1. ok - last night official line from Labour was they will back an election 'as the Bill to stop No Deal becomes law.' - and the statement referred to Friday night
2. Now, Labour MPs say Keir Starmer told them at the PLP that Labour will NOT vote for an election until the bill has been passed AND implemented, which means AFTER October 19th - which obviously means no chance election until much later on
3. Trying to clarify the position!

1. Politics is upside down - some Johnson allies v pleased as what would normally be a massive crisis gives them huge opportunity to finish the business of the referendum in 2016 and get the majority they believe they can win
2. Tory party will have a clearer position on Brexit - so what, if it means some household names are chucked out, it means they can make history by getting us out of the EU and if it means reshaping the Tory party to do it, so be it
3. The hope is they can win convincingly because Labour's position will be less clear - offering referendum on credible Remain or credible Leave - ergo more delay - BUT

Late last night our delegation arrived in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

This morning we started at 7:45am with a country briefing from the U.S. embassy, met with Foreign Minister Lisandro Rosales, and attended a bazaar with goods from embassy-supported programs.
I told the Honduran officials how deeply troubled I am by the culture of corruption and human rights abuses surrounding Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández.

It is important to convey these strong concerns at this critical moment in Honduras.
Next we held an emotional and powerful meeting with the mother and family of Berta Cáceres, a human rights activist who was murdered for her work to protect her indigenous land and the environment.

Late last night I got a call from son of a detainee in Assam. Crying he told me that his name as well as that of his other family members have been removed from the NRC.
Let me tell you why this happened.
Since November the practice that has been prevalent in SC is that most
fresh matters against the FT orders were being admitted only if one or the other family members or the name of the petitioner himself was included in NRC. All the matters were tagged together and after a very very brief hearing SC passed it's judgment. That judgment paved way for
deletion of names of family members include in NRC. Around 1 lac more have been excluded. So now because the NRC number was readily available, the name of family members who found mentioned in NRC after tracing their lineage through family tree mechanism were also removed.

Late last night during an assembly the caravan decided to change route and head to Matias Romero, Oaxaca because the lack of buses made the previous route difficult given the number of sick kids and limited resources on the route.
Pueblo Sin Fronteras said there was a chance they could get more than 70 buses to move the group but that under pressure from the Mexican federal govt various sources withdrew the buses forcing them to walk and change route. It’s a 25 mile walk.
PSF said the lack of buses leaves them with little choice but to travel through Veracruz, which is more dangerous for the caravan.

“Any aggression against the members of the caravan and those accompanying them will be the complete responsibility of the Mexican federal govt.”

#JohnKinsman of the #ProudBoys was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court late last night on charges of Attempted Gang Assault in the Second Degree (a felony) & various misdemeanor charges.

He is being held in jail on $25,000 bail.
The case was adjourned to this Thursday, October 25, in Part F, Manhattan Criminal Court, for grand jury action.

The prosecutor has until then to present the case to the grand jury and secure an indictment or Kinsman will be released from jail.
In the alternative, they could reduce the top count to a misdemeanor and Kinsman could be held in, but bail would be reduced.

Kinsman's lawyer, Ronald Hart, served notice that his client intended to testify in the grand jury, but this does not necessarily indicate he will.

Late last night Grassley’s chief counsel, who’d question Ford in a staff interview & prep Grassley’s questioning in a hearing, tweeted that he’s “unfazed” & “determined” to “confirm Kavanaugh,” then confirmed he personally conducted Kavanguah’s questioning & attacked Ford’s camp.
Mike’s account has been locked. It was public this morning when these screen shots were taken. I’m leaving them up because the question of whether Grassley’s staff can conduct a fair investigation is central to the debate & Mike would conduct the questioning of Kavanaugh & Ford.
Mike's account is now public again and here is his explanation. Not sure how this clarifies anything, but judge for yourself.
