1. PM heading out of Westminster today to crank up calls for an election - he'll accuse Labour of being cowardly for refusing one, the message 'Parliament can't stop the People voting'
2. If you were in any doubt for a second that we were heading for an election based on People v Parliament, scratch that thought - No 10 reckons this is day 1, whatever the eventual date
3. But Johnson has a big problem that the date is not just in his gift, and opposition parties can keep him dangling for as long as they like - PLP and shadow Cabinet seem to, for now, have secured position from Corbyn that they won't agree in next couple of days
4. But one wise head with no skin in this game points out, flip side of FTPA traps Johnson, also protects him-govts don't fall just because of a few defeats - so if HE wanted to go long, then he could-opposition parties have taken a LONG time to start working together
5. Last point for now - No 10 hell bent on an election, but they can't just pretend as if it's already happening - they might not like paying attention to the process, but they don't get an election just through will power, let alone win it
