Cheryl Cwele, wife of former South African Minister of Intelligence Siyabonga Cwele was convicted in 2011 of running an intercontinental drug ring that imported Brazilian cocaine into South Africa and used Nigerian street dealers to distribute.

But Nigerians are the problem...
I mean that's like the CIA Director using his power and influence to import Cocaine from Colombia and then using black drug dealers on the street for onward distribution and easy scapegoating in the U.S.

Oh wait, that actually happened, so wrong example...
That's like Abba Kyari being indicted as the head honcho of an international drug ring, bringing cocaine into Nigeria and using a group of easy scapegoats for distribution.

Now I don't like Abba Kyari, but I can say with certainty that such a thing would never happen.
Point is - the easiest thing in the world is to look for a scapegoat instead of introspecting. "The blacks" this... "Nigerians" that... "Illegal immigrants" the other...

Scapegoats give you an excuse to be useless and mediocre without taking ownership of your shit.
Nigerians do not lead the South African drug trade - locals do. If you're pressed about their alleged drug trade involvement, then you need to ask yourself what your problem really is. If the makwerekwere weren't there, there would still be drug dealers, just with another accent.
The real problem is that S/Africa has a massive youth unemployment and drug abuse problem which is magnified by its unsustainable welfare state that makes it possible for people to exist (in poverty) without working.

Powerful S/Africans are exploiting this re: drugs.
It's a painful thing to look in the mirror and realise that your fine garments are imaginary because you're actually naked, but that's life. It's not the 'Najeeryans' that you should be fixated on.

Your real problem is homegrown. You are your own victim.
Oh and BTW Siyabonga Cwele got to keep his job as State Security Minister after his wife was convicted. Her sentence has also been reduced. You and I know that the space she vacated has been filled by another powerful local.

But those Najeeryans eh?

Remember the @wikileaks cables from 2010? The leaked cable detailing South Africa's drug trade contained some very interesting and familiar names. Here's a hint - none of the names were Nigerian!
