No10: Parliament is to be prorogued until October 14 tonight.
Some big consequences of prorogation tonight:
1. If PM loses the FTPA vote tonight, as expected, there will be no general election until November 20 at the very earliest (no MPs will be sitting to vote for one). So the zombie Parliament limps on, possibly even into December.
2. The PM is able to avoid his first grilling of the Liaison Committee, which he was due before at 3.30pm on Wednesday for 90 minutes, as well as PMQs this week.
3. Prepare for an utterly British spectacle: if the Speaker grants both emergency SO24 debates today, the prorogation ceremony in the Lords (5 peers doffing funny hats as the clerk says in Norman French 'La Reyne le veult') may not take place until after 1am tonight.
