I'm not sure what the 10 compromises referred to are, but if this is an attempt to properly scrutinise the Withdrawal Agreement and debate the pros and cons then that's good. That hasn't happened.

Just voting deal without understanding the implications is not a good idea.
Basically the Withdrawal Agreement as it stood locked us into a close relationship with the EU without any serious accompanying mechanisms, the latter being absent so we could pretend the former wasn't the case. The Brexit halfway house. politics.co.uk/comment-analys…
Compromise is fine, and ultimately the way out of the Brexit mess, but not if large numbers will feel resentful and cheated by it. That just stores up trouble. So if you want a deal let's do it properly @SKinnock @RoryStewartUK @CarolineFlintMP @normanlamb

Should have been 'no' realistic compromise proposals to date. But here's the thing - negotiations can tackle problems, produce compromises. But only if entered in good faith, with specificity, with flexibility.

Such an approach has not by and large suited UK politicians.
I proposed improvements to the Brexit deal back in January. I stand by them. But they were too remain-y for Brexiteers and too leave-y for remainers. A country can't successfully negotiate externally faced with such a domestic split linkedin.com/pulse/brexit-d…

Back to trying to decode Brexit talks. Suddenly the talk is of a UK proposal based around an all-Ireland SPS (food products basically) zone which the UK will present to the EU at the European Council on Oct 17. For now there seem few grounds for optimism 1/
The EU's checks on animals / food products are far more exacting than in any other area, thus the ERG associated Alternative Arrangements Commission experts struggled to even put forward a solution without some all-island commonality. This seems to what the UK Gov proposes 2/
This proposal actually offers no guarantee of no border infrastructure, as at any time Northern Ireland can diverge, requiring border checks if the Republic chooses not to diverge from the EU as will be the case. Not sensible, not going to be acceptable 3/

In just TWO MONTHS TIME the UK will leave the EU. Every directive and EU protection no longer applies.

Let’s be very clear about this. The government has set a devastating trap for MPs today. It’s pretending the vote is just about the ‘admin’ of passing the withdrawal agreement, with debate on political declaration to follow. It’s a lie. Please, MPs, do not fall for it.
EU gave 22/5 as new date if gov can pass withdrawal agreement (not necessarily political declaration) by today. If MPs do so, we’ll be on a conveyor belt either to passing May’s deal unamended, or leaving with no-deal at all, and nobody will be able to do a thing about it.
Hate backstop? Tough. Want to negotiate a customs union? Forget it. We’ll be sucked into what May has wanted from the start, and what Parliament has always sought to avoid: the take-or-leave-it of May’s negotiated national humiliation or the unique catastrophe of no deal at all.

Contrary to popular belief Brexiter no deal #Brexit planning has been in full swing for 2 years as I shall explain in this thread
1/ dismiss the very possiblity of no deal #Brexit as #ProjectFear and assure voters of a much better cake and eat it deal during campaign
2/on winning referendum experience gradual realisation that any #Brexit deal is not only certain to be inferior to EU membership but stratosphercally inferior to the promises made most of which you can't remember

I did the most #ADHD thing the other day. I took one pill then got distracted + took another, so ended up wired when one dose makes me like a "normal" person. I'm coming out as ADHD now after building a record of hard work bc there's stigma. Lmk if you have qs about pros and cons
I'm in good company with Michael Phelps and Einstein 🙂. Basically even without meds I'm able to hyperfocus on what I'm interested in accomplishing but if you ask me to do something boring I'll be incredibly inept. healthline.com/health/adhd/be…
Also #ADHD is linked with higher sensitivity to things like bright lights, sounds and textures. I was only diagnosed a few years ago and just thought before that knit turtlenecks were a medieval torture device.
