1/2 Strangest thing

During 2019 Indian elections, I in my personal capacity as a journalist tweeted some criticisms of right wing political & media discourse in India.

Soon after, I was invited as one of the speakers in a prestigious (liberal?) journalism talk shop in India.
2/2 Then PM Modi was making an unprecedented & 1st ever back to back state visit to Bhutan in 2019 August.

I as a Bhutanese citizen who believes in Bhutan-India friendship retweeted some welcome messages & etc on Modi’s visit.

Subsequently invitation to talk shop withdrawn 🤔.
Woh, tweets got some traction.

I think main issue apart from tolerance is also basic human decency.

Don’t send an official invite (including for a wedding) when not sure.

Also just because journo is from a small country you have no right to be behave rudely @journalism_talk
@journalism_talk A lot of people are attacking liberalism and liberals in the comments section.

I am a liberal and the shockingly boorish behavior by @journalism_talk (the talk shop) does not represent real liberal values.

I think the problem here is boorish elites who think they are liberals.
@journalism_talk BTW have attended journalism/think-tank meets all over the world: Delhi (IDSA & ICWA),Washington D.C (State Department), U.K (Oxford University) Germany (German Parliament), Asia21 leaders in Melbourne etc.

Never encountered such a pretentious/rude little soirée or kitty party.
