Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, is hosting its first-ever pride march - it's underway now (photo from @HromadskeUA)
Meanwhile far-right groups have led a much smaller counter-protest, a "march for traditional values," wearing masks to conceal their identities.

A report (in Ukrainian) from @HromadskeUA: estimated 2,000 marchers, 500 in the far-right counter-protest march; some far-right marchers threw eggs at pride march participants. No other major incidents reported.

Members of far-right "Freikorps" have reportedly attacked participants of KharkivPride - wwo people have reportedly been injured.

Video of the reported attack is on social media. It shows 10-12 young men - some masked, all looking like far-right radicals - chasing an apparent pride participant, punching them and kicking them while they were defenseless on the ground
.@HromadskeUA: 15 far-right radicals detained, having chased, assaulted post-#KharkivPride marchers; 2 marchers injured. 1 far-rightist reportedly pepper-sprayed police officer in the face.

Fortunately, these appear to be the only major incidents so far.

After 17 far-right extremists were detained after #KharkivPride violence (3 still detained), Tradition and Order (TiP) held a small rally in support of their comrades in front of Ukraine's interior ministry in Kyiv.

Also present - and front and centre - was C14's Yevhen Karas
As we wrote in a @bellingcat investigation in August, neo-Nazi C14 is bent on redefining itself, using affiliated organizations to present a sanitized image to Ukrainians, including those in mainstream politics/society who have defended and supported them

Part of this includes an apparent shift away from supporting overt violence, including against LGBT+ Ukrainians.

It also comes w/ an extreme sensitivity to criticism, more so than w/ any other far-right group we've covered (e.g., making a 3-minute propaganda video attacking us)

“Will,” an NGO for the "Protection of Armenian Values", has organized a petition against the ratification of the Istanbul Convention by the Armenian Government, claiming that the Convention “opens up opportunities for the propaganda and legitimization of perversion and perverts.”
Representatives of the group have been collecting signatures at several locations in Yerevan for a week now, and are looking to expand to other cities, including Gyumri and Vanadzor, to prevent the “sinister and apocalyptic dangers of the Convention.”
The petition has since been signed by several parliamentarians, including Prosperous Armenia Faction secretary Arman Abovyan, PA MP Artyom Tsarukyan, and ruling My Step Alliance MP Sofya Hovsepyan. A former Armenian PM Khosrov Harutyunyan has also joined the petition.

Far-right figures, -linked groups among organizers of "March of Ukraine's defenders" set to take place on August 24th & acknowledged by Zelenskiy's Office as part of Independence day festivities in Kyiv. Medvedko, accused murderer of reporter Buzina, is one of the organizers.
