27 UK diplomatic posts will be tasked to find out what happened in a meeting we didn't attend because of Number 10 wanting to make a cheap political point. Meanwhile we will lose the opportunity for useful chatter between Ministers and officials from across the EU
Our diplomats who try to ask what has happened in this and other meetings we refused to attend will be told sympathetically that their job is impossible in these circumstances. And soon policies we wanted to pursue will be affected by not being in the room.
Nothing says Brexit is actually about isolation more than the decision to withdraw early from EU meetings. And that is how the ridiculous decision to not attend EU meetings is seen in serious policy circles globally.
