Chatted with a couple EU diplos about this. They made some interesting points. 1/

British diplomats to pull out from EU decision-making meetings within days

One pointed out this will do nothing to reduce UK officials workload. It will instead increase it as they scramble to meet EU diplos to find out what happened in the meeting

They will still need to have the inside track despite not being present.
Another questioned whether it was smart to pull out of meetings involving Iran when a British ship is being held by Tehran.
That Diplo also said it was purely symbolic as little of consequence would be decided before Oct 31.
Told that decision being scrutinised before being finalised.

EU diplomat on Boris letter to Tusk.

"3 years on & still this letter fails to put forward any realistic alternatives for the backstop. Hope and imagination don’t keep the border away. This letter is not request to renegotiate, it’s a clear cut attempt to avoid it all cost.

I can reveal that this cookbook, which sadly does not involve Jean-Claude Juncker's favourite Luxembourgish delicacy, cost 3,300 euros and it has been downloaded 647 times.
That's 5 euro cost to the EU taxpayer per download!

UK budget share in 2018 was 11.88 % meaning UK paid 60 cents per download! or about 388 euros.

Which is now worth more or less 388 POUNDS.

The commission says that the cookbook is "full of tasty European and African dishes features some of the great recipes and cultural heritage of our two continents, including the British delight Beef Wellington"
