So what could Trump have done that has IC whistleblower and the IG in hair-on-fire mode? Trump has complete discretion over declassifying anything he wants, whenever he wants. So it's not that. 1/

One of the few 'promises' Trump could make to a foreign leader that would cause panic is if he promised to expose a 'source' or 'method'—say, by promising he'd reveal the identity of a spy. 2/

Or, for example, the current location of that spy we extracted in 2017. Or a promise he'd relay how the CIA found out a certain foreign secret.

Something that would near-certainly get someone killed. 3/

Trump promising foreign power he'd reveal a current U.S. source or method seems one of few things that would cause huge panic in intel community _and_ that would be questionable for Trump to reveal despite his near-absolute intel powers.

Pure speculation, of course, but 'shared intel with foreign leader' doesn't cut it. He's allowed to do that.

There's only a few things he's not allowed to do and they are all very, very bad.
