The most tried and true way to 'blow up' in hip-hop nowadays (and get embraced by the genre's popular media outlets) is to make music and imagery that portrays black people in the worst possible light...

Everybody knows this is true but nobody has the balls to admit it.

Once every few years, they'll shine some light on artist who doesn't propagate these stereotypes, but the talent and hustle required is far greater on their part.

Tat up your face, colour your dreads, get a criminal record, rap about drugs, sex and murder, you're good to go. 👍🏾

I've observed this since I started and always questioned why it was like this.

It's very real though.

90% of what's considered 'hot' is whatever makes black people look ignorant, violent and criminal.

The rest is 'corny' or 'not real'...

It says a lot about a lot.

I love the genre to death, but some of the stuff I see and hear is really hard to defend.

Murderers, drug dealers, pimps and rapists aren't a 'disgrace to black people' yet Kanye West is... according to the same people. 🤷🏿‍♂️

It's so backwards, hypocritical and stupid.

Imagine thinking supporting the president of your country is WORSE than rapping about killing your own people, treating women like trash, or selling drugs in your own community (and sometimes really doing it...)

The real white supremacists are the rich dudes in the music and entertainment industries, gleefully profiting off the self-destruction of black people.
