This city is a mess. Crack and heroin addicts are all over the place at night. It's very disturbing.

I've now seen everything people have been talking about with my own two eyes...

Holy moly.
I've been to 70+ cities in 30+ countries and I've never seen such a concentration of open, hard drug use and addiction.

I can't believe this is the most expensive city to live in the USA. 😳

It's nuts.
I'm not exaggerating. I honestly can't believe how bad it is.

It's shocking. Whole downtown area. Not just one or two streets.

What a tragedy. 😔

The most tried and true way to 'blow up' in hip-hop nowadays (and get embraced by the genre's popular media outlets) is to make music and imagery that portrays black people in the worst possible light...

Everybody knows this is true but nobody has the balls to admit it.
Once every few years, they'll shine some light on artist who doesn't propagate these stereotypes, but the talent and hustle required is far greater on their part.

Tat up your face, colour your dreads, get a criminal record, rap about drugs, sex and murder, you're good to go. 👍🏾
I've observed this since I started and always questioned why it was like this.

It's very real though.

90% of what's considered 'hot' is whatever makes black people look ignorant, violent and criminal.

The rest is 'corny' or 'not real'...

It says a lot about a lot.

The Patriarchy's greatest trick was convincing millions of women that it's liberating and empowering to work 50 hours a week to enrich men who don't care about them...

but it's oppressive slavery to raise children, or cook for a man who adores them and would die for them...
As a byproduct, this indoctrination has also helped to produce millions of men who are non-committal and don't value women beyond sexual gratification.

All the above is great for maximising tax money, but terrible for producing stable families and communities. 🤔
If 'The Patriarchy' exists in the Western world, then it's the guys who devised such a cunning plan of population control and self-enrichment.

It's extremely clever. All they had to do was brainwash enough people into the bondage of this 'freedom' and then it perpetuates itself.

It's disgusting. They still haven't figured out that they are the racists and bigots.

They always think they know what's best for 'us'...
Notice they can't actually refute the things I say, so they default to accusations of 'tokenism', 'grifting', being a 'race traitor', etc.

They don't believe that we have the ability to think for ourselves and make intelligent decisions/conclusions without financial incentives.
The suggestion is we have 'sold out'. That is the ONLY possible explanation to them...

Why? Because they think they are superior and they own you by virtue of your skin.

An intelligent, free thinking, successful minority, who doesn't subscribe to their BS is a huge threat.

When I was a kid, it seemed that a favorite insult used on playgrounds, in the neighborhood, and wherever kids gathered, was calling someone a "faggot."

I could tell, from an early age, that being a "faggot" must be a really horrible thing, but I didn't know what it was.
Later, when understanding illuminated meaning, I knew that kids, well, now teens, who were contemptuously deriding the guy that couldn't shoot straight (at basketball), or missed a catch in baseball, etc., were talking about ... me.
How could I ever tell family and friends that the word they invested with such disgust, such contempt, such disregard, was a word that described me, and people like me.

Our family is homeless.

There are four of us. My husband, myself, and our two teenage boys.

We sleep in our car, in Walmart parking lots or rest stops.

We are on the waiting list for the local shelter and for other housing locally.

My oldest son has autism. I am permanently disabled due to an accident in 2011 that has left me unable to work. My husband suffers from crippling anxiety, depression and ptsd.

I get social security for my injury, and I worked from age 16 to my accident in 2011. (2/8)
We are still working on reapplying my son for benefits, and my husband as well. We are as connected to resources as we can be. We are connected to the schools, to dshs, and local shelters. We are still working on getting connected with possible helpful churches. (3/8)

We have a problem here at our building.

A homeless people problem.

Likely a similar problem to what many, many buildings have, across the developed world. No, the problem isn't
that there are homeless people who stay in the lobby because they have nowhere else to go.

The problem, is that people who live inside the building, in actual homes, with heat food and all sorts of other necessities of life, keep calling the cops on those not as fortunate,
simply for taking shelter.

There are many reasons that are claimed this is done, but simple fact, is that it is wrong, regardless of the 'why' that is claimed.

I have done several series on #homeless people and women and teens are at high risk for sexual assault due to their vulnerability and being "invisible" in society. There are few access points to report. scribd.com/document/38694…
There are some disturbing remarks in the threads on @seattletimes article. These imply that because the study was small, it's irrelevant. But that is quite obviously false. Every raped woman is relevant. And the coercion of Native women by non-Native men has historical context.
Native women are the least addressed in the context of the #MeToo movement. Homeless women are not mentioned at all. This @seattletimes article highlights that fact. For that reason and more it should be read and shared and discussed--but in no way dismissed.
