The sad truth is that I follow a strict “not to be seen or heard” policy when using the restroom. Get in, do your thing, wash, and get out. The longer you’re in a public restroom, the greater likelihood of being attacked.
Result? I rarely use public restrooms.
Eliminate the need.
“So, you don’t drink liquids in unfamiliar environments?”
Ah, now you’re getting it.
Guess what out-of-state travel entails? Looking up local and state laws on trans rights to see if I’m protected.
Fortunately, the cop was a professional. Not always the case.
And I’m white. Imagine what this is like for trans people of color.
