A quick takeaway from the article is that the original human genome was far more deeply flawed than even I knew. The survival of the fittest that nature creates means that animals cannot be weak. We know that, but its effect on the genome meant that we had to be okay with being
ruthless without hesitation. Predators have to be. We were always more of a jack of all trades, but yes we were predators as well. It turns out that many of the personality types we have now we're not just the product of the modern environment. The mechanisms within our bodies
that allow us to put ourselves first helped us survive, but they had to be taken out. It is in direct opposition to the way nature was taking our genome to make it weaker in some senses. More compassion for others means more hesitation and less ability to get done whatever needs
to be done. In a world of tech and massive weapons of destruction, the "weaker" person who does not have such a strong biological drive to put themselves over others at all costs actually is better in the modern world. So, where we are going genetically is directly in opposition
to where most people on the Earth now would probably want. It is not really about getting insanely smart. It is about lessening the safeguards bred into our species over millions of years that ensure we would be able to ruthlessly dominate without hesitation. What we need for our
world has no place in any normal one that nature would create. The values we have to hate violence, slavery, and the like just did not really exist in the past as they do now. It is a product of learning better, but more a product of the guided genetic help our species had.
No one liked being the victim, but not liking something and wanting to change are not always the same thing. People do not want to admit that deep biological programming can affect us. Look at sex for a minute. No one complains about being a slave to the desires we have, but we
clearly have them. Just because the desire to get ahead of others, even ruthlessly if needed, is harder to see, it does not mean that it is not there. We were a predator species, and built into our genetics is the ability to learn and even enjoy a lot of brutality. Lessening that
and increasing the aptitude towards compassion has been a long road. I go over this a lot, but people underestimate how much it actually affects us.

Now that we have a solution finished, it is only a matter of time until our world changes in massive ways.
