Today, we’re going to talk about working with brands for the upcoming holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, & Christmas).
As you all know, we work on the brand side & we can tell you that we are working on holiday campaigns NOW. Meaning, YOU need to be pitching & actively searching for these deals now.
Did you notice how we threw Black Friday & Cyber Monday in there? Obviously that’s a holiday as well! Let’s go over a few pointers for working with brands this upcoming holiday season.
What are your favorite brands & do they work with influencers? Do you even know where to look to reach out to them? I use LinkedIn the most to find exactly who I need to reach out to. If all else fails, I will send them a DM asking for the contact information, or send it to
their general PR email. I hardly ever have to do this, and I feel like my success rate is better when I’ve researched the exact person who handles the brand campaigns.
HALLOWEEN: If you’re really pushing to do a Halloween deal, then you need to start pitching TAH-DAY. Not tomorrow, but TAH-DAY.
When you’re working on your pitch, include some examples from last holiday season if possible. Also, make sure that the brand actually does PAID influencer work or you just may (or may not) be disappointed when they tell you they don’t do paid promo. It’s ALL in the research
Find 9 brands that you can do a Halloween deal with & send the pitch. Send 3 pitches a day to total 9 this week.
If you’re family/lifestyle, think of all of the food & candy brands running campaigns.
If you’re beauty/makeup, then consider working with a hair brand to try a new funky orange hairstyle.
Halloween campaigns are in in full swing. Think home decor, costumes, hair/makeup, food/candy/beverages.
THANKSGIVING: Start brainstorming & pitching for Thanksgiving now so your pitches can be prepped & ready to send October 1st. Once again, you need to be pitching multiple brands per week to land even 1 or 2. Also allot time for follow ups.
Thanksgiving is all about family, food, fashion, sports & home. If you fall in those categories (or you can create the content) then you’re in there!
BLACK FRIDAY/CYBER MONDAY: last year, brands spent a TON of money of Black Friday/Cyber Monday Influencer activations. Black Friday/Cyber Monday is BIG for toys, major retailers both online & offline, home items like razors, toothbrushes. Skin care, makeup, electronics, games...
The list goes on. So, I ask again - WHAT are the brands YOU want to go after that does paid influencer campaigns?! It takes a simple Google search to find out if they have done that in the past.
GOLDEN NUGGET: if you search “*brand name* all opinions are my own” or some variation online, then you will see if your brand has done an influencer partnership in the past.
CHRISTMAS: Start pitching for Christmas now. Put the feelers out to the brands, and continue to follow up throughout October. A lot of deals are running from mid-November on through December. Whether you want to do a fashion campaign, a holiday party makeup look, the new games
that make for great gifts, holidays dishes (and actual tableware), making sure you have BATTERIES for electronics, home decor, whatever. No bars held for Christmas but you need to start now.
See how we said batteries? Yes, you need to think outside of the box. Brands like Duracell & Energizer have done influencer campaigns. Think about the tissue you use, the disposable paper plates, etc.
You really need to dig deep & do some research on your niche & all of the potential brand deals you could gain just by thinking outside of the box.
Next month, our students will get to dig deeper into this & actually start pitching!! 👏🏽
