all the real juicy stuff is paywalled and/or secondhand info from corny youtubers but apparently Bannam's suing Atgames over Ms. Pac-Man—in short, ATG claims to have purchased the game rights to Ms. Pac & spun that into "we own Pac-Man" to propsective distributors
the key word is "claims" bc it's unclear whether ATG even got the Ms. Pac game rights in the end—ATG denies everything, Bannam alleges ATG has been telling distributors & sub-licencors that the deal's done, but there's no proof that GCC (game rights owner) actually handed it over
to back up a little for those who aren't aware, Namco owns the Ms. Pac-Man IP but the game itself is owned separately and requires a separate licensing deal to reissue, hence why it's missing from and/or an additional purchase within all those Namco collections
Bannam was in the process of finally buying the game rights for Ms. Pac so they'd 100% own it but ATG claims to have bought it for themselves—maybe they did, maybe they didn't, but Bannam expressly didn't give them the Ms. Pac license & they sure as hell don't own Pac-Man now
there's also stuff in the lawsuit about that one product they sent to reviewers that was completely different from what was on shelves, they're not happy about that either
