This interview pissed me off so bad.

Todd Phillips is a rich white guy who has no grasp on the reality of life for the average American.

This "if it gets people talking, it's a good thing!" argument is so specious it's almost a joke.

NO, Todd. No.
In our society, there are lines we've decided collectively not to cross. When someone crosses them, we say "hey, that's the wrong thing to do!" and either it's a crime or just something offensive. But we call it out. We try to stop it.

The fact that...
...we are "talking about" something that crosses a line doesn't undo the harm. It doesn't undo the offense.

We can talk about mental health & social isolation without making the serial killer the hero, without making his suffering the central story.

We don't need more...
...empathy for serial killers. We don't need more sympathy or pity for boys & men who hurt innocent people because girls rejected them.

Want to tell Joker's story? Sure, tell it. But tell it how it really looks to be a pathetic fucking loser who can't handle being told "no"...
Tell the story of Joker and the El Paso and Dayton and Tree of Life and Newtown and Parkland and Columbine and Aurora shooters - but tell them honestly.

They are pathetic fucking losers who aren't interesting, who aren't strong enough to do life like the rest of us do daily...
They're losers.

Joker is a loser.

Killing people makes him more of a loser. Less interesting. Less compelling. Abusing women makes him weak, pathetic, embarrassing.

Watching Joker shouldn't be a"high", it should be pathetic. He shouldn't be a hero or even an anti-hero.
Maybe Todd Phillips should ask survivors of mass shootings, of abuse, of harassment, of rape, of violence if they think the backstory of one of these pathetic fucking losers who has hurt us because he was rejected is interesting.

Hint: We don't.

Be brave. Tell a real story.
Lastly, the studios trusted this story to the director of Old School and The Hangover.

Just saying.
