Last wk we revealed that @GEOGroup, who run the Karnes ICE detention center, aren't providing women in custody w/ proper medical care.

This wk, conditions haven't improved.

Instead women tell us that ICE is moving them to rural detention centers to fill Karnes w/ children 1/x

Despite support to #ShutDownKarnes from @SenKamalaHarris, @ewarren, @SenSanders, @RepAOC, @RepLloydDoggett, @JulianCastro, @RepEscobar, & @AyannaPressley.

ICE refuses to budge & continues to:

1. Not provide proper medical attention
2. Plan to bring children into unsafe condns

But we know there's ONE thing that ICE simply can't ignore.

And that's the voices of the women inside. The women they've mistreated.

They would prefer if you didn’t hear these sworn testimonies.

They would prefer if you didn't hear the #StoriesFromKarnes

We’re going to keep telling #StoriesFromKarnes until:

1. Geo’s treatment of these women is investigated & those responsible for this criminal mistreatment are brought to justice

2. ICE closes the Karnes detention center

This story is from a woman who's been there since July:

"My husband died in 2011. I had 8 children, 2 died. My surviving children are still at home. I fled home in March following severe sexual and physical violence. Since my husband died i’ve experienced high blood pressure.

On July 21 I came across the river near Del Rio & was arrested a few hours later. Border patrol took me to an office and checked my vitals. They say how high my blood pressure was and brought me to the hospital. Once I got there they did more tests, an x-ray, took urine, etc.

They diagnosed me with cancer in my uterus. The doc gave me medicine for my high blood pressure and told me to see an OB/GYN for cancer treatment. He recommended that I be released from detention to seek medical care.

The border agent brought me straight to detention.

I’m still here today. I haven’t seen a doctor. I’ve got no medicines. The cancer is growing inside me and they are ignoring me.

I spoke to a psychologist by telephone. She said I should be released to get treatment.

I’ve been bleeding. At home I had stopped having a menstrual period. Since coming to Karnes, I’ve been bleeding. I bled for five days straight in August. When I bled I had a lot of pain. I have cramping in my back going all the way to my rectum area."

This is mother of 6 kids who is locked up and seeking help.

She has cancer in her uterus.

She is tired, she is bleeding, she is in pain.

She has not been taken for medical exams or treatment.

This is one testimony as part of #StoriesFromKarnes. We’ll keep telling the stories that @ICEgov and @GEOGroup don’t want you to hear until we get Karnes shut down and those responsible for this severe neglect punished for how they’ve treated these women.
