In response to the concerns raised on possible VVPAT hacking in this thread, Asian Age has published the reply from ECI here asianage.com/india/all-indi…
Major chunk of the reply has been on

How big was the parliamentary constituency that I was RO of, comparing it with total PS, whether I had raised this issue in writing, or at the proper forum & raising suspicion on why I am now suddenly raising this immediately after resigning.
While I think where & when I had raised it would be least relevant, but still I thought I had clearly clarified in the tweet where I had raised this. During the RO training at IIIDEM, Delhi conducted by ECI. Not any internal meeting & yes it was verbal.
The only part of the reply concerning to the issue raised is that 1.25 crore VVPAT slips were counted and they matched.

Considering that this is out of ~70 Cr votes, only thing it proves is there is a very high probability that hacking was not done in the previous election
But then it was never an allegation that it was hacked as was mentioned in original thread.

It was a concern that given the systemic and design flaws and lack of process checks, it is impossible for us to ensure a fool-proof election with current design.
We introduced VVPAT so that voters can know what is going to the Control Unit.

But VVPAT only tells us what is going in to the VVPAT. What is going to the Control Unit is still unknown to the voter.
Also, in the pre-VVPAT era, EVMs as a black box never knew which candidate was at which sequence. It was just candidate 1, and cand 2 & so on for it.

But now with VVPAT, the EVM as a black box knows who are the candidates, which serial number they are at etc.

Again dangerous!
