I'm no longer a local, but the DMR is a once-loved state institution that has been coasting for years on the goodwill fumes created by RAGBRAI, The Big Peach sports section, Donald Kaul, and Chuck Offenberger
This is completely correct. UICH is literally the most beloved institution in the state, and I'd venture most Iowans know a family whose child was treated there. Screw with it -even secondhandly- at your peril.
"They had to take her to Iowa City" is the most gut-wrenching thing an Iowan can hear about a kid in their town. But it's also a cause for hope.

Some people have been very mad online recently at a local newspaper reporter because he searched old social-media posts of a local viral celebrity.

Folks, I want to tell you something: If anyone finds dirt on you, you WANT it to be the reporter at your local newspaper.

A peek behind the curtain: For years and years, when someone becomes famous for even a hot minute, the newsroom at their local paper is ON IT.

A reporter interviews parents, friends, old coaches or teachers, preachers, etc., as everyone else figures out how they may know them.
If you were not a nice person growing up, these are the people who could find out. Depending on how bad you were, they would.

The reporter had to determine how newsworthy any info was in discussions with editors who probably went to the same church as the subject's parents.

During the Chandrababu Govt, Amravati received political as well as financial patronage. Now, with Jagan Reddy being incharge of the state, the project is in shambles. World Bank & ADB pulled out of the project and the Government is looking for reasons to scrap it. 2/n
The bonds issued to support the financing needs of the project were subscribed by Franklin MF and Birla MF. The bonds are guaranteed by the AP Govt but it's not sure if the Govt would keep servicing the bonds. The risk of lending to a state govt has again come to the fore. 3/11

2/ In recent weeks, the Iowa state House and Senate passed a bill, which was just signed into law today by the Governor, which would allow the state Farm Bureau to open up non-ACA-compliant “health plans” (NOT legally defined as “insurance”) to ANYONE.
3/ The only reason these plans are legal to sell is because they aren’t legally defined as “health insurance” in the first place. That means they aren’t subject to ACA regulations. That means they can once again deny coverage (or charge thru the nose) people w/pre-existing conds.
