1. As many of you know, for years I've tracked murders/killings by domestic extremists (of all types) in the US, and do yearly reports on them.

"Two AWOL soldiers joined a far-right militia in Ukraine. They returned and killed a Florida couple, feds say." stripes.com/news/us/two-aw…
2. This is an example of a couple of phenomena I regularly come across. First, this is a "belated" murder revelation. The killing itself occurred in 2018, but the extremist connections to the murder came out much later (long after my report on 2018 murders). So old stats are
3. always being updated. Second, this is an example of a non-ideological extremist-related killing. At most, these murders have an indirect connection to the perpetrator's cause(s). Some people ask why I bother to track non-ideological murders in addition to ideological killings.
4. I think the nature of this incident helps people understand. Right-wing extremists often engage in robberies to get weapons and/or money--and sometimes kill their victims (here is an equally chilling past example: apnews.com/8c5e90d2f8d640…). The violence that comes from
5. extremists can extend far beyond direct ideological targets--and to ignore that would be underestimate the threat they actually pose.
