I'm misleading and wrong — because I'm right

(Greta worries climate leads to ever more death, but actually, deaths have "despite rising temperatures but because of less poverty and more resilience" declined 95%)
Then he claims that deaths from heat waves are increasing, but using an unreliable measure from the disaster database (most cold and heat deaths don't become public disasters, there are almost no heat and cold deaths before 1970)
The studies that have actually looked at all cold and heat deaths find that heat deaths are *declining*, because they're easy to prevent, whereas cold deaths are often not, as here from the UK

Or here "susceptibility to heat and heatwaves has been decreasing. ... A similar decrease in cold related mortality was not shown."

But should we? That is a political question, not a science one

Just like science tells us, if you want no traffic deaths, you must set speed limit at 5MPH

Here is her quote from IPCC: we have about 420Gt CO₂ left for 1.5°C, used in around 2028 — then we have to cut off all fossil fuels

Without 81% of the world's energy, it will be cold, dark & back-breaking

(+half the world will die, bc fossil fertilizer produce 50% of food)
Yes, climate science should inform our decisions

But claiming science dictates our choices is scientism

- equivalent to claiming science dictates a 5MPH speed limit

We have words for these feelings: ecoanxiety, climate grief, environmental melancholia, solastalgia, pre-traumatic stress disorder.

I know high-schoolers who are preparing for their future with an urgency and uncanny resignation they usually reserve for active-shooter drills.

As I replied to @EricHolthaus- I'm aware of and inspired by @givingwhatwecan & @GiveWell work on global health/poverty; I personally want to support climate mitigation. I realize there's no one right answer, depends on theory of change etc; curious to hear different perspectives.
Esp. in climate arena where impact could be on different possible levels (eg X tons avoided from cookstoves vs Y tons #fossil CO2 kept in the ground vs systemic political or economic change)- curious to hear diverse range of theory of change or evidence of effectiveness.

1) GDP growth: Nigeria is currently growing at less than 1% of GDP as against 5-7% growth when GEJ was president. However, don’t forget that it is not about GEJ but about the future of Nigerian youth and Nigerian families.

Nigeria has lost about 11million jobs in the last 3years & 7months under PMB. These jobs were mostly middle class jobs that were paying reasonably. Today we are havd net negative job growth & the next govt must replace the lost jobs & create new ones
