Today, as we mark the beginning of General Milley’s tenure as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, we do well to pay a debt of gratitude to a man who has served this nation with distinction for now 42 years. He led troops in battle during Operation Iraqi Freedom...
He served as Commandant of the Marine Corps. And over the past five years, I can personally attest, during our tenure, I have witnessed his strong leadership and sound counsel at the highest levels of our military and our government.
Today, we pay a debt of gratitude to General Joseph F. Dunford. Thank you for your service. Thank you for being always faithful.

2. Before we start, it is always good to remember this axiom. When all of official Washington sings the praises of someone – with almost no dissent – your political antenna should be quivering BIGLY! Here’s just one red-flag example:
3. I don’t remember Democrats praising Mattis before his recent letter of resignation, do you? And they only praised McCain and Bush 41 after their deaths because those two were used as political battering rams-of-the-moment against @POTUS, too.

In a tweet this morning, President Donald J. Trump indicated he will nominate Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley as the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
If confirmed by the Senate, Milley would succeed Marine Corps Gen. Joe Dunford, who has served in the position since September 2015. Dunford will step down in September 2019. Milley would be the 20th man to hold the position since General of the Army Omar N. Bradley in 1949.

I’ve known General Milley for years and met him on numerous occasions in Afghanistan and Iraq. He’s a battle-tested commander and Pentagon reformer who will be a worthy successor to General Dunford.
As to General Dunford, he served Presidents Obama and Trump with distinction and has much to be proud of during his tenure as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs.

He’s one of the most dedicated officers I’ve ever known. I wish him well.
