this is the last workshop on the city’s standards and design manual update before it goes back to city council. this process has been under way for two years.
shorter block lengths make it easier for pedestrians to navigate a space
i wish i understood why city ownership of alleys was important (but not enough to read anything about alleys)
apparently there are only 5 alleys citywide that the city takes responsibility for. the presenter is not aware of the history of those alleys and how they became the city’s responsibility.
