Leaked government paper warns that the UK’s efforts to strike a US trade deal after Brexit could “severely limit” Britain’s ability to negotiate an equivalent agreement with the EU.

The document says relaxing SPS standards in the UK to get a US trade deal could damage public health.

“Weakening our SPS regime to accommodate one trade partner could irreparably damage our ability to maintain UK animal, plant and public health, and reduce trust in our exports.”

@alexwickham now going to point out that £10m went to 16 ports, so Bristol's £100,000 is way under the average....but this is an obvious conflict of interest, weird they didn't spot it

Brexit would make Metropolitan Elitism worse-

The Brexit vote was against our London-centric system. So if there's an economic hit because of a Brexit London voted against, Westminster would make sure the London Banking sector survived but everywhere else...
Many of the problems that pushed people to vote Brexit had nothing to do with the EU. One of those problems was the government choosing to protect the banks who caused the crash with bailouts while ordinary people just got austerity.
The rich took irresponsible risks with the country's future, but they were protected either by moving their money away or by the government and it was those with least who suffered the most.

Johnson's linking border issue with Dover and Calais comes here, at around 3 minutes 25 seconds. This is what I always thought they were up to.
They are trying to use the border in order to pursue their cake and eat it strategy: free trade with the US etc and no borders with Europe.
