There are many ways to market a product or a service and providing the potential clients and customers with testimonials is one of the best ways to market.
The power of testimonials can never be underestimated. People, especially nowadays,
will only purchase products or services which have been referred to them (especially people they know & trust) But most of d times, this is not an option that is in d hands of d business owner, we have to do d next best thing, which is to get testimonials from old customers.
Testimonials are living statements from old customers or clients which states that they were satisfied by d product/ service. Every business must have testimonials to be able to stand out in today's ever crowded markets.

There are many benefits of having testimonials.
Testimonials appease the target market and usually lessen d doubts of ur target market especially if you're a new brand. An average Nigerian is skeptical about online purchase most especially cos of d popular "what I ordered vs what I got" posts we see on social media 😂
Also, we can't deny the fact that there are a lot of scammers and con artists out there frustrating the efforts of the legit businesses and this has turned the market into a fearsome one. So credible testimonials provide security to d people who are eyeing ur product or service.
So providing genuine customer feedback and testimonials gives people a much more relaxed attitude towards your product or service.
Testimonials assures quality.
Aside from confirming the existence of a business and lessening doubts, testimonials provide assurance to potential customers and clients of the quality of the product or service.
The fact that they took time out to be able to write testimonials about the product reflect their levels of satisfaction towards the product/service.

Testimonials give advantage.
Credible testimonials provide a competitive advantage for the product/service. There are many products and services out there and one of the ways to stand out from the rest is the use of credible testimonials.

Big bumbum on IG, I checked his page and was surprised at the number of engagement and patronage. But one thing I noticed is that the man uses testimonial and feedback so well. He even show short clips of how the butt enlargement process works.
There are many types of testimonials and they can be categorized according to the source. Here are a few examples:
a. Testimonials from satisfied customers.
This is probably d most effective type of testimonial. Nothing beats a testimonial from a satisfied customer bcos it is a picture of what d product/service is all about.
You mostly don't need to ask before they give if d service is great
b. Testimonials from experts
Experts can be credible sources of testimonials. If a renowned dermatologist writes a testimonial for a beauty soap, it will surely help in boosting its sales, wouldn’t it? Because people already know the expert won't recommend fake.
c. Testimonials from celebrities/public figures (twitter influencers)
In a world that is run by mass media, celebrities have become powerful sources of testimonials. They boast of the numbers and they can push sales than running ads yourself (this depends on some factors)
Let me say this, not all influencers can sell your products, aside the fact that some of them charge ridiculous amounts that only big brands can afford, you have to make sure their followers are actually your target market if not you'll be shooting the wrong enemy.
If you don't have access to them, don't beat yourself, focus on your organic growth and get genuine feedback as discussed, you'll get there but if you have access to the influencers, trust me, it helps a lot. Also if your product is good, they may promote you for free.
Sometimes last year, I brought in a product, an anti-radiation for phones and laptops.
By the way, Rakiya Yusuf, the popular face in Basket mouth's #Myflatmate showing on DSTV weekdays is a friend, we attended the same university and still keep good contact.
I understand she's very but was able to beg her to squeeze out time for me and she did. We were having good conversation when I brought out the product and told her I have a gift for her and told her how it works. It's actually a must have for every phone user.
After short talk, she said her boss (basket mouth) will like the product as he spends most of the time on phone and requested for one more.
Long story short, Rakiya snapped the product herself the following day and posted on her IG page. You can guess the result.
The testimonial should also contain d complete attributes of d people who gave them. Their titles, location & age should be included whenever possible.
Visual appeal will also be a great help in using testimonials. If d clients are willing, one must insist in taking pics or video
So how does a business owner get started with the whole testimonial thing?
1. Before anything else, only products/ services with outstanding quality deserve testimonials, so you must make sure that your product/service possesses exceptional quality.
There's a popular saying "you can only deceive your customer once" if it's fake, they won't come back.
2. Ask for the help of your customers. You must be able to communicate to your customers the need of getting their testimonials. If they are really satisfied with the product/service, they would be more than willing to participate. I'll use my mentor as an example here.
Mr Stephen Akintayo @stephenakintayo after every of his trainings will go on Facebook live & ask the participants of the training if the training has been worth the time and money. Ofcs you won't give such review if you didn't ger value. I learnt this and it works for me til date
3. Interview your customers. Ask them about what they like about your product/service, why they chose your product and other questions like these.

4. Ask them if they are willing to make a written testimonial. You can offer to make d testimonial yourself based on their responses during the interview but d testimonial is still up for their approval. u might want to make d wordings catchy & let them approve it before posting
This is easier with WhatsApp this days, after receiving your service or product.
Even if it's in person, chat on WhatsApp the following day to ask about their wellbeing, then ask if they love the product, indirectly conduct the interview and ask if you could post.
5. Ask them if you could record the testimonial if they're live with you. A video testimonial is better, but of course, many people are camera-shy and this can be a limited option for most. But it's worth trying if they agree.
6. Choose the best testimonials. Use the best ones so as to maximize the benefits that your product can get from the testimonials. No matter how good your products or services are, you'll surely get some unsatisfied customers. You have to ensure you post the best of them all.
Testimonials are very powerful and this is the reason why every business should have them. They provide assurance and security and reflect the real essence of a product or a service.
