[Thread] Joey Gibson trial for felony riot starts with pretrial motions. One motion by defense tried to prevent testimony from woman who was knocked out by Nazi Ian Kramer, with a baton.

#PatriotPrayer #Riot #CiderRiot Courtroom for Joey Gibson's...
Judge denied motion to keep her from testifying, but agreed she couldn't talk about her broken vertebrae/concussion as she isn't a doctor. These are injuries Andy Ngo falsely tried to claim were faked.
Motion granted to prevent Joey Gibson from being referred to as leader of the group, but not "perceived" leader of group.

He is leader of Patriot Prayer. These right wingers met at his rallies.
Another motion doesn't allow his beliefs to be referred to as "extremist beliefs"

The Palestinian working class can’t be free until Israeli apartheid, occupation, and settler-colonialism end — which can’t happen without resistance of Palestinian workers and international workers in solidarity.

How workers have united in and behind Palestine this past year ⬇️
In May 2021, hundreds of thousands of Palestinian workers — in multiple different industries, and across Gaza, the West Bank, and ’48 — all went on general strike to protest Israel’s ethnic cleansing in Jerusalem, bombing of Gaza, and military and police violence.
Their strike led to hundreds of millions of dollars of losses for the Israeli economy, demonstrating Israel’s dependence on Palestinian labor and the liberatory potential of a unified Palestinian working class.

#MayDay is International Workers Day in Hawai'i! In honor of May Day we are lifting up our Kanaka labor history as we are largely written out of the Hawai'i labor history literature.
Harry Lehua Kamoku was born in 1905 in Hilo. He was Hawaiian and Chinese and began working on ships and docks as a teen. He was disturbed by the working conditions of dockworkers and got involved in labor organizing.
In 1934, he and other Hawaiians were in San Francisco supporting the famed 1934 dock strike. There he met Harry Bridges who further mentored and supported his organizing work in Hawai'i.

Happy #MayDay!

Recognize the workers who have kept our countries open at great risk to themselves - in grocery stores, hospitals, sanitation, transportation, delivery, many others. What does the economy do for them?

The first Labour Day (May Day) in India was celebrated on May 1, 1923 in Marina Beach in the city of Madras, which was the winter capital of the Madras Presidency.

The event was organized by the Labour Kisan Party. (Led by M Singaravelar).
It was Dr BR Ambedkar who brought the 8-hour working day into the Indian legal framework

He brought it in the 7th session of the Indian Labour Conference in Delhi on Nov 27th 1942. Ambedkar held the port-folio of Labour member in the Viceroy's Executive Council from 1942 to 1946

1\ I wonder if @JPHornick @KingsleyKwok know about the pro-#Russia rhetoric coming from the hosts of Toronto #MayDay2022 they're attending tomorrow? Some white boys astroturfed an "indigenous" protest to tie Indigenous issues to #Donetsk/#Luhansk "self determination".
2/ In early April, I asked about Indigenous participation/endorsement. I was told by a member of @may1labour "The poster was designed by an #Indigenous artist." I asked the artist for comment. The response intriguingly disavowed official Indigenous "endorsement" or involvement.
3\ My conclusion: in an #election year they've tricked an #ONDP candidate into endorsing and appearing at a rally whose core organizers are pro-Russia, appropriating Indigenous issues to conflate them with Donetsk/Luhansk, tying Unions/the @OntarioNDP to Putin's genocidal war.

1/ May Day, international workers’ day, had US origins in the Eight Hour Day movement that emerged after the Civil War. This Marx had predicted. “The workingmen of Europe feel sure that, as the American War of Independence initiated a new era of ascendancy for the middle class…
2/ “…so the American Antislavery War will do for the working classes,” he wrote to Lincoln in congratulation for the latter’s re-election in 1864, in the midst of the Civil War. Just three years later, in 1867, Marx was able to see his prognosis vindicated…
3/ …In his brilliant “The Working Day” section of Capital, in which he explained how capitalists extract surplus value, Marx wrote, “Out of the death of slavery a new life at once arose. The first fruit of the Civil War was the eight hours’ agitation….

The massive US-NATO arms shipments to #Ukraine️ are based on dangerous assumptions in Washington. The FT writes that the Biden administration's previous concerns about Russian retaliation "has been all but discarded." 1/ #UkraineRussiaWar Image
According to the FT: "There has also been a reassessment of the threat posed by Russia's nuclear arsenal, a sabre that Putin rattled early in the war but which analysts now believe he is unlikely to deploy." On what is this assumption based? What if they are wrong? 2/
Boasting publicly about the Javelin missiles and other advanced weaponry the US and NATO are pouring into Ukraine, Biden is either assuming that Russia won't attack the convoys or, more likely, is actually seeking to provoke an attack. In either case, he is acting recklessly. 3/

Thread: #Syria, Chemical Attacks, & Disinfo

Interesting outcome from "BBC's Editorial Complaints Unit" re 13-part Mayday @Radio4 series

1. Series was on disinfo campaign -- pursued by #Russia, #Assad regime, and their allies -- contributed to death of James Le Mesurier

2. Series included episode on #Russia-#Assad-allies disinfo to deny #Douma chlorine attack, which killed 43 people, in April 2018

3. ECU outcome upheld series while criticizing "limited aspect" re ex-#OPCW staffer "Alex" (Brendan Whelan)

4. ECU said #BBC's Mayday should have been more circumspect re 1) possibility that ex-#OPCW staffer Whelan got $100,000 from WikiLeaks and 2) any Whelan belief that #Douma chlorine attack was "staged"

5. But ECU noted evidence for both points

Now the interesting part...
