After this video went viral showing a group of masked antifa activists harassing an elderly couple, Alaa Alsoufi (in orange) was identified as a participant. His family business has announced it is closing following hateful messages & threats.
Hamilton police are still investigating this incident. They tell me potential charges can include but are not limited to: intimidation, assault, disguise with intent and mischief. Potential suspects who have not yet been identified: 
Justin Trudeau and others are rallying support behind the restaurant. As far as I know, they did not express solidarity for Dorothy Marston, 81, or her husband.
Alaa‘s involvement in the harassment of the elderly couple hit a particular nerve online because his Syrian family was given a home in Canada just in 2015.
Alaa Alsoufi and his family have been featured in numerous human interest stories in the US & Canada for being Syrian migrants. What’s not widely reported is they were already living for decades in the Gulf, where they owned a beach resort.
It has to be stated that violent threats against an activist’s family as ‘retribution’ is evil. I don’t care what the activist believes. Antifa supporters have done it to me so I’m deeply familiar with the feeling of constant fear and terror.
The Alsoufi family has released screenshots of the hateful messages and threats of violence to the press. These threats were cited as the reason the restaurant is closing. However, no formal police report has been filed. toronto.citynews.ca/2019/10/08/syr…
Update: The restaurant will reopen after closing for a short period of time. The family of Dorothy Marston, the elderly woman harassed and verbally attacked by masked antifa activists, says they never received a call from Alaa Alsoufi.
