I just saw a guy refer to Senator Warren's discrimination story as "a useful injustice" and
To elaborate, he was suggesting she could have gotten as much out of coming forward in 2007 as now.

Which, I mean, he's not wrong. He's not right, but he's not wrong. No advantage then, no advantage now.
The "advantage" of talking about it is that she has it out in the open and off her chance. The "gain" is that we are talking about pregnancy discrimination and a whole lot of people are apparently just learning it exists. The needle moves, slowly.

Doesn't help her campaign.
The cost outweighs the benefits, professionally. Because even those wiling to believe women will so often balk at believing a woman.

Women? Sure, fine, love 'em. Believe them all day, every day.

A woman? Oh, what's her angle?
The persistent belief that there is some great reward waiting for anyone who speaks to sexism and how it impacted their career ensures coming forward will always suck.

Because we as a society hate when anyone gets something we think they didn't earn.
So the belief, the fear, that she might get ahead off this.. it motivates and excuses attacking her over it. Got to erase those ill-gotten gains! Probably an impossible task, because you know the rewards are so great. "Victim bucks" abound.
"Of course it's going to help her. Today's PC culture won't allow us to speak out against a woman who says she was a victim, which is why we must tear her down," cry 12 million men named something like Steverett in unison.
Plane is landing so I'm going to wrap this up and look up how buying booze works in Tulsa. Subscribe to my newsletter.
