People always respond to negative things about Trump with “but his supporters believe it.” Yes, and? Do you really think it’s possible we’re going to get 100% agreement on things or it doesn’t count? The same 30-40% of the country that was miserable over a black potus lives Trump
I could maybe understand this refrain if Trump had high levels of support comparable to other presidents, but he hasn’t. At his highest moment of triumph he never has been anywhere near 50% support. No president in modern history has been so weakly supported so consistently.
When Bush won despite losing the popular vote he at least got over 50% approval after (before 9/11). Trump simply never has. Ever. Just accept about 40% of the country is lost. The chances of a LBJ or Reagan style consensus is nigh impossible in this world.
This just feels really obvious to me, I dunno
